A school that doesn’t exist yet: cleared for construction, opening no earlier than September 2028.
Demolition is complete at 23-10 43rd Avenue, clearing the way for PS508Q, a six-story, 90,000-square-foot school designed by ESKW/Architects for the NYC School Construction Authority. The building will serve roughly 550 students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, plus a citywide District 75 special education program. An estimated opening date of September 2028 has surfaced in CB2’s own Land Use Committee record, though no public construction timeline has been announced elsewhere.
A note on names: Gantry Plaza State Park is the 12-acre state park at the northern end of our waterfront — not to be confused with Hunters Point South Park, the city-run park directly to its south. The two sit side by side with no clear line between them, which is where the confusion usually starts.
