Guidance on how we solicit and treat advertisements.
AD STANDARDS
All advertisements in the Hunters Point Ledger — print and newsletter — must meet the following requirements.
Labeling Every ad is labeled. In the newsletter, a small “SPONSORED” or “ADVERTISEMENT” label appears above the unit in IBM Plex Mono, #C8BFA8, 9px. No exceptions. Readers are never left to guess whether something is paid placement.
Relevance HPL accepts ads from businesses and organizations with a genuine connection to LIC and Hunters Point South — businesses that serve residents, employ people locally, or contribute to neighborhood life. We do not accept ads from businesses with no neighborhood presence or relevance.
Content Ads must be factually accurate. HPL reserves the right to reject any ad that is misleading, offensive, or inconsistent with our editorial standards. We do not accept political advertising, advocacy advertising, or ads that conflict with our editorial independence.
Separation Advertising does not influence editorial coverage. Advertisers do not receive favorable coverage, story placement, or advance notice of stories. This is non-negotiable.
Format All ads must be submitted as print-ready files or approved digital formats. Specifications available on request at ads@hpl.nyc.
Volume HPL limits ad inventory per issue — print and newsletter — to maintain a clear editorial-to-advertising ratio. We do not oversell the page.
Advertise in the Hunters Point Ledger
The Hunters Point Ledger is a free print newspaper covering Long Island City and Hunters Point South — the development, the retail shifts, the public spaces, the civic processes that shape how this neighborhood actually works.
We distribute 3,000 copies per issue across the neighborhood: coffee shops, libraries, apartment lobbies, gyms, and wherever residents spend time. Our readers live here. They’re paying attention.
Why print, why here
LIC and HPS are changing fast. The people tracking that change — newer residents, long-timers, small business owners, parents, professionals — are exactly the audience that’s hard to reach on social media and easy to reach when they’re holding something in their hands.
A print ad in the Ledger isn’t a banner impression. It’s your business in a neighborhood context, next to journalism people actually read.

What we’re looking for
Businesses that are part of the neighborhood. Restaurants, studios, services, retail, real estate, healthcare, childcare — if your customers live or work in LIC and HPS, this is a direct line to them.
We keep ad inventory limited per issue to maintain editorial integrity and ad visibility. We don’t oversell the page.
