Our neighborhood is changing. Permits get filed. Storefronts turn over. Buildings go up. Community board votes happen. Park funding gets approved or cut. Most of it goes unreported, and what does get reported rarely gets explained.
The Hunters Point Ledger covers Long Island City and Hunters Point South. Not Queens. Not New York City. This neighborhood, at this level of detail.
We cover development, permits, retail, public space, parks, schools, infrastructure, and civic process. We follow what changes, track what it means, and explain how it happened. We are not breaking news. We are not a police blotter. We are not an advocacy publication.
This might sound like minutia. It might sound dreadful. It might sound too local. It’s our neighborhood, our neighbors.
Hunters Point South has a population of at least 21,330 according to the 2020 Census, and is significantly higher in the last 6 years. We’re not too small, and we’re not so unimportant.
We publish for residents who want to understand their neighborhood, not just be notified about it.
